Hope

Hope,
A word, a path,
A way of life
A higher being that gives meaning
To lowly desires
A down to earth emotion
That drives worldly powers
A wish, a dream,
A cry for help
Growing in gleam

A knot in the heart
Lashing our dreams
A pit in the stomach
Not letting us sleep
A prayer, A shout out
An optimism
Overflowing the stream

A wishful thinking
An itch that is stinking
An empowered obsession
A racing passion
A desire, A plea
A screech, A scream
To the power supreme

A belief in self
An undying thirst
Zeal to never give up
A journey to oneself
A flight of all possibilities
An attitude
Non acceptance of anything less
Than desired
The fire refusing to sleep
The wings fluttering and raring to go
A hope
The hope
Of a better tomorrow
Of a better future

Red

A little red
In my blue
A little kick
To my mood

I swirl and breathe in
I revel and absorb
A little sniff
Of heaven

My lips move
But don’t talk
My eyes closed
But can still see
As I bring you
Close to me
A little swig
Of bliss
You in me
Dancing on my tongue
Twirling in my mouth
Burning my desire
Filling me up
You enter in my pores
And make me free

#napowrimo

A little spring
In my steps
A lot of hue
In my dreams
I open my arms
And feel the wind beneath
A glass of red
Gives me wings

Where do I belong?

In the orange of sunset
Or in the blue of the morning
In the footprints of my father
Or in the arms of my darling
There so many roads to take
So many rivers to cross
Should I just wait?
Or should I sail
Should I take the bridge short?
Or should I take the route long
Tell me
Where do I belong?

I love the cold breeze
And I love the warm sun
I don’t mind the chapped lips
And I love the tanned skin
I am not good at numbers
And have made art blunders
Do I take the road ahead
OR do I take a U turn

Should I mull over things
Or should I just have some fun
Is it okay if I sing?
In my crude voice
Or is it acceptable
If I just dance along
With two left feet
Tell me
Where do I belong?

So many choices to make
Which one do I chose?
The right of my head
Or the left of my heart
What if I am not right?
What if I am not wrong?
Tell me

Where do I belong?

I write

Words floating in the air
I catch and I grab
I jumble and mumble
To myself

I move my hands
And sketch in air
I print the words
In my heart somewhere
Till I get the time
To put my ink
On the paper

Till then everything
Is my pen
I write on grains
And I leave my prints
On walls
I scribble through my feet
And leave my notes
Offshore
Till I pour my heart out
On the paper

Till then everything
Is my muse
The toys strewn on the floor
The teary eyed monster at the door
The messy face wrapped around my heart
The neverending end and the never starting start
The handprints on my white
And the nose that cried
The footprints on the bed
And the nursery rhymes in my head
Various loves, countless lives
Living in my head

Till I find a way out for them
Till the stories move to paper from my heart
Till I get a good reason to start
Pouring my words out
On paper

I write
On everything
I live
in everything

An Indian Love Song

HE
Come close let me see your face
My love
Don’t hide the glow,
Don’t cover the fire
My love
Let me breath in your scent
Let me sleep in your manes
I am lost
In you
In your silken contour
In your brazen inferno
Give me life
Let me drink your core
Let me find my soul
In the magical nectar of your kiss

 SHE
How do I let you breath in me?
How do I burn you in my fire?
How do I lose myself in you?
How do I show my face to you
My face is veiled to follow the laws of my land
Our love will set a blaze, not only
The veil
But my land
Your land
The feud of old faiths and beliefs
The blood of numerous griefs
Will be on our hands

HE
What is my land?
What is your land?
Our heart hears both
The sound of temple bells
And
The cry of the muezzin
Our love will conquer all
The rage, the tears
The blood, the fears
We will write a new dharma
We will preach a new karma
Devoid of fear
swarming with love

Shared with NaPoWriMo. The prompt was to rewrite a famous poem, giving it your own spin. I have used "An Indian Love Song" by Sarojini Naidu. Do read it. I am not sure if I was able to spin it differently or if I did any justice to her work. Her words are magical, any attempt to rewrite her poems is futile but it gives me an opportunity to read her again and again.

I did something similar few months back, as in I tried working on one of her other poems "A Cradle Song"
Do read my attempt on it. Its called "Little Lovely Dreams". This poem is very close to my heart for various reasons. One of the most important being, I sing it as a lullaby to my kids even now.

Books

A parallel universe
A whole new world
Story within a story
Love in love
You make life more colourful
You add red to the blush

I shed tears when you cry
I open my wings when you fly
I fall when you fall
I die when you die
I live in you more
then I live in my life

I was and I will always be
Yours truly forever

Music Of Nature

Music in the air
Music every where
I dance..I hop
I jiggle and I pop
I sing aloud,
And I hum in my breath
I hear the sound
I feel the rhythm
I don’t know
How to stop
May be I don’t want
to stop
I jive and I rock
I jiggle and I pop
To the music
The music of nature

Look at the trees
All green and grooving
Kissing the wind
And hugging the sun
Swaying to the tune
Of being one
with the nature
Each leaf is glowing
Each flower is smiling
Each branch is jiving
Not willing to stop
They shiver and they rock
To the music
The music of nature

Look at the birds
All cheerful and lyrical
One danced on the tip toe
One sang
One crooned
And one bowed
All poignant in rhythm
All cruising together
Forming a bond
Coloring the sky
Soaring and roaring
Moving and grooving
They jiggle and they lock
To the music
The music of nature

Look at the rainbow
So pure, so white
So colourful
Yet so light
Each color embodying the next
Each color filling the raindrops with zest
Each color sparkling
Each color absorbing
The melody of raindrops
The harmony of all white
And the peace of all colors together
Each color singing
Each color wiggling
To the sound of pitter patter
To the voice of nature
They cuddle and enfold
They form and they mould
To the music
The music of nature

This is playing as a song in my mind even right now. I wish I knew how to write music. I would have written and saved the tune forever with the words.
