Ram Sita

Sita was late again. She saw the railway track “In a few seconds I can be free.”

But the milk came rushing to her chest; where she had nestled together the pain, the joy, and the duty of being a mother.

At home Ram waits with a stick in hand.

  1. A little disturbing...considering what is waiting for her at home I don't think I would be in such an all fired hurry to get there.

  6. Sad story of a woman who is a mother first and foremost. Hope someday her child grows up to become a true Ram or a true Sita.

  8. This is terrifying, true and so vivid in depiction. It is a grim reality in so many urban, educated households that it is not funny. When will it end?

Sfurti, glad to see you blogging again. Missed you tons!

    1. Yes Shailaja. This is as real in urban India as in rural. Obviously education is not helping. I wish we knew what would help.

Thanks for reading and thanks for kicking me back in blogging.
